Fun Times of June

Here are some highlights from June! Some day in and day out times of bath and bed time...we got to go swim with YaYa and Jim one Saturday; We met Beth and Sophie at the splash pad at the zoo; we are sad to see Pam, Bill and Mary Morgan move away soon but know it's good for them...Claire and Joel love seeing MM each Monday as she comes to help me out while I take Claire to gymnastics; We ended our small group with 3 families we have loved spending time with (Walters, Fritschis, and Stephens)...life changes and ministry changes necessitated the closing of the group but we'll all still be at HSBC together; Claire loves playing with her brother and has been on a kick to have her nails done...daddy had to help out once because my hands were full...well done daddy! We love a balance of fun times inside and outside the house.

Gymnastics

Claire started gymnastics this summer at Vision Gymnastics and is having a blast! She pretty much has no fear so we thought she needed some skill at her efforts. Each week I flash back to my gymnastics days with Aubrey Whittington as one of the "Delta Dismounts". Here's a few clips of how our tumbler is doing. When I first saw her in her leotard I got choked up of how adorable, big, and great she is!

Father's Day

"Daddy you're the Best!" is Claire's statement about her daddy! Happy Father's Day, Jeff! Thanks for all you do for us to provide for us, support us, and have fun with us! Thank you for always making time to get in the floor with the kids and lead us well! We all adore you! Happy Father's Day!

Daddy does a Pedi

Daddies will do most anything for their little girls! Way to go, Jeff! If the grant money for your research runs low, maybe you have another skill to uncover:)) Last night in the kitchen we were discussing our new life with 2 kids and his statement of one of the fun things so far is that we get to have fun snacks in the house :)) New phrases we are saying are..."going to pick up THE KIDS..." "OUR CHILDREN are almost 3 and 3 1/2 months..." "we have a DAUGHTER AND A SON..."..."head on down to the VAN...(yes we joined the ranks of millions in Honda Odysseys)... We are sleepy but having a good time!

5 years!

5 years ago today we "tied the knot" in holy matrimony! Wow! What a great 5 years..of which the primary blessings are named Claire and Joel! How did we celebrate, you ask?...We sent Claire and Joel to day care on Friday 5/31 and we took the day together to go to the gym and took a hike around Moss Rock Preserve and had lunch together...we just enjoyed quality time reflecting over all the ups and downs of the last 5 years and excited about what is to come for the next year and years to come...It was a good time to check in with each other especially as we have now become a family of 4! Also, my cousin Pam and her daughter Mary Morgan came and kept the kids today so we could go out for an early dinner. We tried to pick the most toddler-unfriendly place - STYX (hibachi grill...sharp objects flying, flames etc...)It was great! Thank you, Jeff for a wonderful 5 years! I can't imagine doing life with anyone else - good, bad, or ugly! You just think you love someone on your wedding day...as years go, it really gets indescribably deeper and stronger! You may wonder why we are both holding up our hands in the photos...I started a wall of photos in our home of a picture of us at each anniversary with us holding up the number of fingers for the appropriate year surrounding our vows...I guess when we get past 10 we'll have to take off our shoes and count toes...and when we get past 20...well we'll think of something!

Back to Work

Twelve weeks of maternity leave has come to a screeching halt and it's back to work for mommy and time for Joel to start day care with big sis. We all did well our first week back. They did great getting in the swing and Jeff and I have our morning drill down, now after a few days of working out the kinks...that is if we don't have to flip flop things around because someone wakes up early etc...Teamwork! It was good to get back and I had a full schedule waiting with calls and emails to return. I love what I do and it felt good to work my brain again in this capacity. I missed my babies though and walk very fast from my building 3 blocks to my car and a quick 1 1/2 block drive to pick them up. Joel's teachers (Mrs. Carol in the photo - she had Claire too) love him...they say he's a "peaceful" baby! Love that! Claire has told everyone who will listen that her baby brother is in "the baby room" just across the hall from her and her potty-training friends! We celebrated a good first day with some TCBY - strawberry with M&Ms on top! Part-time is great! Love the balance of both worlds!
