6 month update
We can't believe Claire is 6 months old! She weighs 13 pounds, 15 oz and is 25" long after today's check up. She got all her shots and is doing well. She is almost sitting up independently. She has mastered rolling from her back to tummy but can't get flipped back over. No teeth yet but chewing on everything and everything goes to the mouth. She's working on spoon feeding and seems to like apples and pears the best. She's tried avocado with bananas, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, and carrots. We'll move to peas next I think. She's doing great at day care but not always excited about spoon feeding there. She giggles a lot and loves to shake things and toss them in the floor. She and I enjoy Kindermusik on Mondays and have met some neat mommies and kids. Claire has gotten exposed to drums, bells, and shakers and learned lots of music and movements. It's a great program for development and integrates lots of things. Mom and Jim have kept Claire some so we can have a date night and that's been great fur us to complete a conversation without pausing to respond to Claire with "ah" "oooh" and "Guh, Guh"...
I had my first night away from Jeff and Claire recently. I had to teach a course in Montgomery and was gone from Fri am and returned on a Sat night. It was tough but good for us all. I was pushing the speed limit to get home though. Working part time has been a good balance for me. I thank God everyday I get to be part time and enjoy taking care of our family. Claire loves strolling in her jog stroller and I actually am back up to jogging 30 minutes with her. Claire went with us on our Valentine's Night tradition of eating at Dave's Deli. That's were Jeff and I ate on our first Valentines. He surprised me when he drove over from Starkville on Valentine's 2008 and it was a weeknight. I'd just gotten in from the gym and he was at my door. Not prepared for anything fancy and we don't want to have one day of expressing love in special ways but lots of days of that :)) So it became our tradition. Claire slept through the entire thing. Enjoy some photos of our latest activities.
