Baby Jet-Setter
Jeff had to give a talk in New Orleans this past Sunday afternoon so Claire and I hopped the flight with him. It was a lot easier to fly than do a 8 hour drive for sure because you can't take as much "stuff"! Believe it or not we didn't even check a bag. However we did look like pack-mules each with 2 bags and one baby in tow. I'm thankful for the Baby Bjorn to carry Claire and stay hands-free. We learned we didn't have to take the car seat base if we had a clip to secure it if we had a seat belt that didn't tighten and lock in place. Claire did well on the one hour flight going - the hum of the engines lulled her to sleep. Sucking on a pacifier helped with her ears I guess because no issues with that. We landed and Jeff's parents and brother met us and helped us get to the hotel. They kept me and Claire company while Jeff gave his talk. (If this little girl gets anywhere close to Baton Rouge, this crew is finding a way to see her! Thanks for your efforts! We love you!) Claire got a short walking tour and was officially banned from Bourbon Street unless she came with grandparents. (One day she'll balk at that but for now we'll make her think it's cool.) She's been on such a great schedule that she napped entirely through dinner in her car seat. We avoided the body scan machine in New Orleans because we didn't want our child glowing in the dark at such a young age. She did well on the leg home stopping the flight attendants each time down the aisle delaying drink and peanut distribution. I'm sure many got worried when they saw a baby boarding as we have done many times in the past. After deboarding, most people probably didn't even know she was on the plane. PS: Anyone else ready for the Cam Newton drama to die down? I overheard it being discussed about 10 times in 24 hours between BHM and MSY. Enjoy some pix from our trip to New Orleans. Note: Wrap your car seat in a garbage back to keep it dry when it rains and they take it from the bottom of the plane. Never wake a sleeping baby even if she's strapped to you - learn to nap when the baby naps :))
