It was full and wonderful all the way around. It started the weekend before with visits with my (Cathy's) dad and Robert, Andrea and Brodie to do lunch and gift exchange and then go to my mom and Jim's house that night for dinner and gift exchange. Brodie (3 1/2 years old) is growing up so much and got a bike for Christmas. What fun to watch him go! He was a big help with Claire's gifts and can teach her how to play with them. We got to see Andrea's tummy starting to show evidence of pregnancy. They are due in May and expecting a baby girl. Claire can't wait to share clothes! We had the joy of seeing my cousins and their families throughout the holidays. I still feel like we should be meeting at Mammaw and Papaw's and having Christmas at the farm. Sweet memories. We traveled to Baton Rouge 12/23-12/27 with a pit stop in Brandon to visit more of my extended family. Thanks for the soup and grilled cheese, Aunt Bobby. Loved the visit without gifts :)) It was a wonderful time in Baton Rouge where it was actually 30 degrees. Most of the time was spent watching Claire chew on bows and paper and gift bags and giggle...We were blessed with many generous gifts as always, but more enjoyed the time together. Claire was a trooper with the 8 hour car ride. We enjoyed seeing the Woodside family and the Manes family while there. Special friends of Jeff's while growing up and now have children.
It definitely seems it takes more and more mental effort to focus on the Christ in Christmas with each passing year. Lots of hoopla and commercialism compete for the worship. Our Pastor, Buddy Gray, always reminds us that Christmas is more about the deity of Christ than the birth of Christ. I like that. If He's not God, we have no hope. Thanks so much to all our wonderful family for celebrating with us and all the efforts you do to love on us and enjoy our daughter. May we stay humble and thankful to God - He truly is the Giver of all good things!
