June Joy
June was full of activity...swim lessons, Bible School (HSBC calls it SummerQuest), Jeff Traveled a fair amount. Father's Day, and a wheelchair day. Kids did great learning more swim skills. We loved our first year to participate in Bible School. I know they learned a lot and had lots of crafts to show it :). We survived 8 days in a row without Jeff while he was in Germany and took silly pics to send while he was away. Bobby, and Grandmommy and Granddaddy came for Bobby's almost one year appointment since Jeff donated his Kidney to Bobby. Both are doing very well and we are thankful for this past year! Timing was good to do an early Father's Day dinner before Jeff boarded the plane for Germany...but not before I could get Claire home from MD for meds for Strep throat! Joel got it one week later and I was 2 days behind him.
The Hinton Family let me use them to do a pilot project for homeschooled kids to learn about people with disabilites and how the use their wheelchairs. Great learning of how people who have to depend on wheelchairs for mobility navigate life. I did not plan this but God did...one of my patients, Ms. Thomas showed up at the Vestavia Library where we were working on things. She was great with them! She joined us for lunch at Moe's Southwest where we learned how to navigate a restaurant and be a friend to someone in a chair. Hope this grows into a larger project to increase awareness and appreciation for those who have disabilities.
Enjoy the highlight reel of the joy we had in June.
