Julie Visits

Our dear friend, Julie Blakey from Augusta, GA came to visit us and see our new home. We had a blast! Julie and I met on a Wheels for the World Mission trip to Ghana, West Africa in October 2006. I feel like I've known her for years. One word for this friend - Refreshing! She's funny, encouraging, talented and real! Love this girl! She sharpens me in faith too! Jeff and I took her to lunch at our traditional Valentine's restaurant - Schlotzky's. We think Valentine's is over-rated and special times to show your love can be and should be done all through the year...Valentine's is special and we did sweet things for each other, don't get me wrong. I cooked Jeff dinner before Julie arrived and gave him an ever romantic birdhouse and he gave me tickets to see a show coming to Bham soon. The pix will show all the fun we had: Julie helped me refurbish and paint old wrought iron patio chairs to show our team spirit - purple and gold (LSU) and maroon and white (MSU) - listed in random order :); we had a blast eating at the Iguana Grill in "GuadalaHoover" - neatest atmosphere of any Mexican restaurant we've ever been too. Then she and Jeff cheered me and my friend Kate on as we ran in the Mercedes Half Marathon. Perfect weather, great new course and great fun! Ran faster than last year but was sore for 3 days! That's what it feels like to be 36 years old running with a 27 year old! I don't think I can run in a tutu...can you? That's male confidence, eh? We love you, Julie and can't wait to come to Augusta! We always have Enchi and Tarkwa!
