Baby Shower at Cathy's Work
I have the best coworkers on Earth! They threw a baby shower for us on July 8 and provided a great lunch and laughs. Thanks, Libby, for the Teddy Bear cake and Rice Krispy treats (my favorite)! Patty wrote a poem in my honor on the traditional napkin with input from everyone. I started writing poems for people at their showers probably 10 years ago and it became an expected tradition. It's the only think I can do remotely last minute and the tradition is that the poem has to be written on a napkin because that's how the first one went. So Patty rose to the occasion! Many thanks to all who came from so many departments to support us, including the faculty from the UAB PT school. The poured it out on us with cute outfits, practical gifts of diapers and wipes and fun gifts of swings and piggy banks. My director, Cathy, has a son at NYU and I think knows first hand we better start saving for college now! Thanks, Cathy! Randie is my OT partner from 100 years ago who could not miss the opportunity to provide our little girl with a cute pink tutu swim suit. I should thank God above that it's not a bikini! Thanks to the 2 Laura's we are set on diapers and have little messages written on them to help us smile on those midnight diapers changes! This crew is incredibly creative and such a family! I was also encouraged by the presence of Lisa, who was my manager in inpatient rehab when I first started. She has recently retired. She has seen me grow up quite a bit and was a big part of guiding me professionally and personally. Many never thought I'd marry much less get to have a baby. She knew it would happen someday! Thanks for coming, Lisa and for all you have done for me! I hope I can invest in others like you did in me! I can't wait for all of you to meet our baby girl! Thanks, everyone!
