Baby Room

So we are 12 days from the due date and taking it all in. We have put the final touches on the baby's room this weekend. I must tell you about Ingrid and Gretchen, her oldest of 3 girls. Ingrid is one of my coworkers who has more talents than I can count. She's amazing in all that she can do. She has incredible creativity and came over with Gretchen, to paint from a card I gave her, the daisies on the wall. I love how Ingrid thinks and she has great ideas. She's the real deal. Thanks, Ingrid. I can't wait to tell our little girl about you and how you painted for her.

Back to preparation: The car seats were put in 2 weeks ago by the officer at the Hoover Fire Station, who goes to our church. I love small world moments! After lots of active movement by this baby girl last Wed night that kept me awake for about 2 hours, Jeff ensured we packed a bag that night. So, it's riding around in my car. Our last MD appt was good and uneventful. We go weekly on Wednesday mornings until she comes. I have gained about 26 pounds and all vitals are good. According to Dr. Gleason, there is nothing that predicts the onset of labor. Welcome to more of the mystery of childbirth! Everyone has a different story and there are no real predictors of what to expect. So, it's best just to trust the Lord for timing and walking me through it, and thank Him for the wonderful Husband He's given me to be by my side. We are so blessed with incredible family that are all sitting on "ready" for the call and friends who are cheering us on, praying and who have so provided such wonderful gifts and encouragement as we approach this new chapter. It's a surreal time knowing at any moment things will change. Do you have 10 minutes, 10 hours, days? The only thing we know for sure is that she will be here no later than Aug. 19; one week past the due date. I continue to feel good. A little carpal tunnel in my hands but no major swelling. A little swelling in my feet 1-2 times a week but manageable. I have a little difficulty getting comfortable at night but it's training for those every 2-3 hour feedings. At least for now I can go back to sleep quickly. She is very active and I enjoy her movements. She has a very distinct heel that pops out and she is squirming out of boredom and less room to play. I'm sure she's getting tired of the scenery in there. We are so excited and ready to meet her. Everyone is asking about names: We are down to a couple of names we like and plan to wait and see her and see what she looks like. We hope all our family can get here so we can tell them all at the same time. We'll see what her timing is. Jeff's family all has bets on what day she's coming. We'll see who wins the prize! So, for those who have been here anticipating the first labor pain and birth of your first child, what was going through your mind? I'd love to hear. We appreciate your love and friendship and prayers and will be posting the big news before long. God has carried us this far and we have no doubt He will take us the rest of the way and more!
Enjoy some pix of her room and my belly shot taken today.
