Week of Firsts

What a week! Claire is now 12 days old and we survived our first week as a new family unit and Claire is still alive and thriving. It's God's grace kids don't remember anything from their first few months/years of life. She won't remember how I tried to put her diaper on backwards in the middle of the night. She won't recall our puzzled looks trying to learn her cries and she'll have to forgive the photo shoots we put her through trying to capture the cutest looks she has. She has made it through 3 baths without drowning. She is eating great and sleeping good. She had her first visit to the pediatrician last Tues and had already gained 1.5 oz back. Dr. Dudgeon said she looks great! We'll go back in 2 weeks to see if we are back up to birth weight.

She works hard during tummy time. I love watching her face during meal times. She can eat like a raging bull then conk out at the end of a swallow, of which I have to remind her to do many times. We got her out in the stroller and she handled it like a champ. I continue to heal and feel better from the C-section a little more everyday. I no longer need a step stool to get in/out of bed and can get out of a chair without grimacing. I can now walk for 20-25 minutes in our neighborhood with a full stride length. Thankful for the little things! I am having to locate my pre-baby clothes now since most of the weight has fallen off since delivery. Looking forward to getting back in my clothes. Many thanks to Laney and Andrea for sharing maternity clothes! Huge stress and financial relief!!! Having Jeff around all week was wonderful as we figured things out. He worked from home and was able to help most any time. He does so great with her. He returns to work today and classes start Wed for him. More "firsts" are coming and I'm excited about them.
