Sunday we had the honor of formally dedicating Claire to God at our church. Some time during her 2nd week of life we found ourselves sitting on the sofa looking at her sweetly sleeping and spent time praying for her and ourselves as we anticipated our future as a family and dedicated her to the Lord. We see her as a gift and on loan to us from God to help raise her and point her in the right direction toward Him. We will need all the help and wisdom to do that and we'll do our best. We were so grateful that Jeff's parents and brother could be here from Louisiana and my dad came over and mom was here for the service. My brother and family were in town but got derailed by a middle of the night kidney stone leaving Robert quite exhausted and in pain. He is better now and we enjoyed a visit with him and Andrea on Sunday night.
Claire's name means "Shining Light" and the verse chosen for her is Matthew 5:16: "In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."
She was precious during the service and it made it special that she wore my christening gown and heart locket from my childhood. Thanks mom for saving it. Maybe it will make it long enough for Claire's child to wear it. Oh, that would make me a grandparent. Not ready to think that far! Enjoy some family pictures. Thanks everyone for loving us and supporting us and being patient with us as new parents!
Oh how special! She is so beautiful...I love the dress...and I love you!
