Joys of Homeownership!

This past Saturday was spent with Jose and Alfredo helping us with major work in our yard! It consisted of the Summit of the Americas in Hoover, AL! These guys were among 50 Hispanic men who hang out on Lorna Road near the Chevron station looking for work. When you make the turn toward them, they swarm you like ants on hard candy left on the sidewalk! These guys were hardworkers and very nice - no mucho ingles though. We worked side by side raking, sod cutting, sod moving, digging up old shrubs, putting out mulch, planting flowers etc...We have discovered new uses for a snow shovel in the South and Cathy can add new talents to her resume: Ability to run a sod-cutter. It works very well! We'll post a pic of the yard once we finish the rest of the sod. We are excited to watch our new Japanese Maple grow over the next 100 years that we live in this house!
