Potty Training
I have not posted on this topic even though it started for us around Labor day 2012. Claire showed interest and some limited success around 22 months. We got her daycare on board to take her to the potty right after Labor Day that year so we jumped in, bought big girl panties, had a ceremonial trashing of the remaining diapers (which are hidden upstairs for Joel when he grows into them), and got started. I would say 3 months or so into it and we were down to one accident per week or so...She still wears pullups for nap and bedtime and on long trips. You need one of THESE for your carseat if you are approaching this phase. But for those who have 10 kids, You are crazy! This process is birth control! So hard not to get frustrated when the kids knowingly stands in your kitchen floor and leaves a puddle. Glad to be out of that. It was intense to figure out what would motivate too...M&Ms, other treats, activities etc...I don't want to hear a word from those whose kid trained in 3 days and no more accidents...those are the same folks who gave birth to their kid in 15 minutes without an epidural too probably :) Anyway, Claire and I bonded during potty training and had all kinds of silly dances and songs when she'd have success Here's a clip of her singing for you in action. She's going to kill me someday for showing this but too cute! There's a reason kids typically potty train at this age so they won't remember the process. I don't want to know what I was like potty training. Doubt you do either :) Thanks mom and dad for your patience. I'm sure you needed it.
